Most influential teachers= Meditation/Mindfulness: Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, Sayadaw U Tejaniya. Psychology: Stanislav Grof, Grant McFetridge, C.G. Jung, Harville Hendrix. Yoga: David Life, Sharon Gannon, Kathleen Hunt, Steve Davis, Eiric Ovrid, Yvonne Croteau, Swami Sitaramananda, Sarah Powers. “Brent’s approach to teaching yoga is unique and inspired. It is a great blend of challenging, well timed asana, intelligent meditation instructions, astute demonstrations and adjustments, and probably the greatest Sivasanas I’ve ever experienced. I feel like I’m really getting a well rounded work out for my whole being in his class. You can tell he is on an inspired spiritual journey, and I feel as if I can come along for the ride. I leave class sometimes floating a couple of inches off the ground, something that simply doesn’t happen to me when I attend a class dedicated only to the physical aspects of yoga. Brent’s class is like a reset button for me; no matter how challenging a day it’s been for me at work, I can go home and sleep restfully.”
~Eliza Carlson, MS, CN ~ A story is told of the Buddha when he was wandering in India shortly after his enlightenment. He was encountered by several men who recognized something quite extraordinary about this handsome prince now robed as a monk. Stopping to inquire, they asked, “Are you a god?” “No,” he answered. “Well, are you a deva or an angel?” “No,” he replied. “Well, are you some kind of wizard or magician?” “No.” “Are you a man?” “No.” They were perplexed. Finally they asked, ” Then what are you?” He replied simply, “I am awake.” The word Buddha means to awaken. How to awaken was all he taught. ~Traditional Buddhist story
