clarissa_bioClarissa Brown has found that dedication to her yoga practice, on and off the mat, is worthwhile in so many different ways. Her classes provide immediate opportunities for release and fulfillment, through exercise of intention, breath and movement on your mat. You have space to enjoy the freedom and excitement of coming more fully into the moment. Sometimes, that happens while sweating your way though a breath-fired vinyasa flow. Other times, you feel your body being coaxed to melt into restorative poses as the mind accepts stillness.

In Clarissa’s restorative classes, bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps convert the floor and walls into a cradle for your pose. Voice, music, eye pillows, and soft lighting soothe your senses. Your body opens and releases. Your mind is gently disciplined to let go of distractions and quiet down to experience the present. Often times, greater mental clarity and pure emotion appear as gifts. Clarissa’s passion for vinyasa is due in part to her past ashtanga practice, spanning a couple of years of pretty consistent participation in early morning sessions while in law school.

Today, her classes include opportunities to take yourself into a moving meditation, riding your breath to release tension and enhance balance as you flow through postures. Whenever on the mat, time teaching and practicing yoga feels to Clarissa not like time spent, but more like time experienced, used, consumed, enjoyed, and invested. Clarissa began teaching yoga in 1999, while completing her first 200 hour teacher training program. She is a 2011 graduate of Yogalife’s 200 hour program. When not in the Studio, Clarissa practices law. And, she enjoys walking, running, reading, dancing, getting together with friends, and having fun around town.
