Getting Started at Yogalife Yoga Studios

Please arrive at least five minutes before class starts.  If you're a new student, please arrive fifteen minutes early, so you have plenty of time to complete a New Member Registration Form and settle in.  If you are new to yoga we recommend participating in an Intro to Yoga Series prior to joining Level 1 classes.  Pre-registration is required for Intro Series, but you're free to begin taking other classes at any time.   For more information regarding class types and levels, please visit the Class Descriptions page.

Signing In

Please sign in at the front desk before every class you take.  Make sure your handwriting is legible!

Arriving Late

If you are arriving late, either wait until after opening meditation to enter the studio, or enter quietly and wait until after meditation to unroll your mat and gather props.  We often lock the door 10 minutes after class has begun; please call the studio to let us know if you're going to be arriving more than 10 minutes late.

Class Etiquette

Please turn off cell phones and pagers, and remove shoes before entering the studio.  If you are new to the studio or to a particular teacher, please introduce yourself and tell the teacher about any pertinent injuries or limitations. Additionally, when waiting to enter the studio, please talk quietly as another class is likely in progress.

Respect For the Studio

For sanitary reasons, consider bringing your own mat. If you use studio mats, use the mat spray provided. Please put away props neatly. Fold blankets and mats, stack blocks, and tie straps. If you tend to sweat, bring a towel, as towels are not provided.

What should I bring?

Yogalife does provide all props, including mats, but we highly recommend bringing your own yoga mat.  Many practitioners bring a water bottle and small towel.  There are no fees for use of studio props.  Yoga mats and props are available for purchase at both studios.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable exercise clothing that is not too baggy.  We practice in our bare feet.

Is there a place to change and store my belongings?

Yes.  There are bathrooms and changing rooms as well as storage cubbies available at both studios.

How much does it cost?

We offer a discounted pass to all first-time members.  If you would prefer to try just one class, the drop-in fee is $15.  For ongoing members, we offer various passes to fit your budget and frequency of attendance; see Prices + Membership for more details.

What is a typical Yogalife class like?

No two Yogalife classes are alike.  Each teacher brings a unique background to his or her classes.  In general, classes begin with a short meditation practice, ending with the chanting of om. The teacher will then lead the class through a sequence of postures (asanas) and movements (vinyasas); the pace and intensity of the class will depend on the level and style of the class.  Please see our Instructor Bios and Class Descriptions to find the right class for you.  Classes end with final relaxation (savasana), another short period of meditation, and a final chanting of om.
